Congratulations to Austin True, Johnathan Gubody, Brooke Seitters and Garett Nelson, Colville FFA members who won the right to represent Washington FFA at the National FFA Forestry contest. In the first round for National Competition, 37 Teams (one team per state) competed. Students were tested on their Forest knowledge, business application problem/scenario, tool Identification and Forestry Issues. From there the top 19 teams qualified to travel to Indianapolis to compete in the hands-on section of the contest.
The top 19 were announced in alphabetical order and Colville FFA is in the top 19. We are now eligible to compete in the final round in late October. This is a big deal as we already placed higher than 50% of the top state teams across the US. If you see these kids give them a pat on the back.
We will also be doing some fundraising to get there. Please think about supporting them. The Colville FFA members will be selling raffle tickets for a log truck of firewood graciously donated by Boise Cascade as their first fundraiser. In addition, if you would like to make a flat donation to help get the students travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to compete please contact the Colville High School front office. For more information contact Ivy Nelson at 684-7800.
